SEASON 2023

WEEK 5

Week HighAdil187.1
Week LowTarick81.9
THE WEEKLY REPORT: we watched every lineup. Some of you should be in prison.

Adil hung 187.1 on Yousef and never looked back, winning by 69.8 in the week's designated execution. Ahmad annihilated Tarick by 49.8, a score differential normally reserved for scrimmages against air. Omar A. got past Karim, 102.2-85.3, in a game the tape will file under 'fine, whatever'. Issa took care of Omar H., 110.3-100.3, workmanlike and forgettable. Zaid outscored Adel 120.3-111.0, a sentence that fully captures the excitement level. Hamed survived Mustafa by 3.7, and both benches deserve subpoenas over it.

Week's best: Adil with 187.1. Briefly competent. Mark the calendar. Week's worst: Tarick with 81.9. Twelve managers, and one of them scored THAT.

Zaid lost 2 waiver claims this week, which takes a special commitment to being second.

Championship watch: Yousef keeps stacking points. Sacko watch: Adel. No further questions.

Set your lineups. Or don't. It's clearly optional for some of you.

Karim
(Abu Jabal)
85.3@102.2
Omar A.
(Ninjer)
Pregame · The Booth

Strap in, folks. Somebody's week is about to be ruined, and I get paid to watch. On paper this is a coin flip: Ninjer at 2-2, Abu Jabal at 3-1. On tape, it's two teams praying the other starts the wrong flex. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

Ninjer handles business, 102.2-85.3. Karim will tell you it was closer than the score. The score disagrees, and the score was there. A combined 187.5 points. I've covered scoreless soccer friendlies with more offense. Both lineups should apologize to the sport. Omar improves to 3-2. Credit where due, and I do mean the bare minimum of credit. Karim drops to 3-2 and is officially in 'blame the projections' territory.

Zaid
(Campaign Papi)
120.3@111.0
Adel(RIP 💀)
(Be my Jaan Robinson)
Pregame · The Booth

Grab your popcorn. One of these rosters was built by a genius, the other by a group chat dare. The spread on this one is roughly Zaid's ego, which is to say: enormous. 3-1 against 0-4 doesn't lie. Be my Jaan Robinson has lost 4 straight, which by my math is 4 more consecutive losses than a competently managed franchise should allow. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

Campaign Papi handles business, 120.3-111.0. Adel will tell you it was closer than the score. The score disagrees, and the score was there. Zaid improves to 4-1. Credit where due, and I do mean the bare minimum of credit. As for Adel: 0-5 now. At some point it stops being bad luck and starts being a body of work.

Ahmad
(Lucy's Finest)
131.7@81.9
Tarick
(Balls Deep)
Pregame · The Booth

Another week, another chance for these two to embarrass their draft boards. Balls Deep (1-3) versus Lucy's Finest (0-4). Vegas calls this a pick'em. I call it mutually assured mediocrity. Ahmad has dropped 4 in a row, a stretch of football so bleak the league office considered a wellness check. On to the action, where the points are made up and the projections don't matter.

Postgame · The Booth

Lucy's Finest hangs 131.7 on Balls Deep, who answered with 81.9. I've seen preseason walkthroughs with more competitive fire. Balls Deep posted 81.9, the league's worst mark of the week. Frame it. Study it. Never speak of it again. Ahmad improves to 1-4. Credit where due, and I do mean the bare minimum of credit. Tarick falls to 1-4. The good news: it can't get worse. The bad news: I said that last week too.

Issa
(Shamjesus)
110.3@100.3
Omar H.
(Omar’s B*tches)
Pregame · The Booth

Welcome back to the only league where the tape never lies and neither do I. On paper this is a coin flip: Omar’s B*tches at 2-2, Shamjesus at 2-2. On tape, it's two teams praying the other starts the wrong flex. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

Shamjesus handles business, 110.3-100.3. Omar will tell you it was closer than the score. The score disagrees, and the score was there. Issa moves to 3-2. A real analyst would call that momentum. I'll call it a stay of execution. Omar is now 2-3, and the tape suggests that's generous.

Mustafa
(Team Mohammad)
116.6@120.3
Hamed(RIP 💀)
(fantasy sucks)
Pregame · The Booth

Another week, another chance for these two to embarrass their draft boards. On paper this is a coin flip: fantasy sucks at 3-1, Team Mohammad at 2-2. On tape, it's two teams praying the other starts the wrong flex. Hamed has won 3 straight, and has started walking around like they invented zone-read analytics. On to the action, where the points are made up and the projections don't matter.

Postgame · The Booth

fantasy sucks escapes 120.3-116.6. Mustafa lost by 3.7 points and will now spend the entire week doing lineup autopsy. As they should. Hamed improves to 4-1. Credit where due, and I do mean the bare minimum of credit. Mustafa falls to 2-3. The good news: it can't get worse. The bad news: I said that last week too.

Adil
(Dilmeisters)
187.1@117.3
Yousef
(McCafre)
Pregame · The Booth

Grab your popcorn. One of these rosters was built by a genius, the other by a group chat dare. On paper this is a coin flip: McCafre at 3-1, Dilmeisters at 3-1. On tape, it's two teams praying the other starts the wrong flex. McCafre rides a 3-game heater into this one. Regression is undefeated, but sure, enjoy the moment. My prediction? Pain. Beautifully quantifiable pain.

Postgame · The Booth

Final score 187.1 to 117.3. Adil won by 69.8, which in this league is less a victory and more a formal humiliation. A combined 304.4 points in this one. Absolute track meet. Defense is optional in fantasy and both of these teams treated scoring like a personal vendetta. That 187.1 from Dilmeisters led the entire league this week. Even I have to tip the cap. Briefly. It's back on now. Adil moves to 4-1. A real analyst would call that momentum. I'll call it a stay of execution. As for Yousef: 3-2 now. At some point it stops being bad luck and starts being a body of work.
