SEASON 2023

WEEK 4

Week HighYousef224.8
Week LowAdel78.7
THE WEEKLY REPORT: your weekly reminder that projections are astrology for men.

Yousef annihilated Issa by 130.3, a score differential normally reserved for scrimmages against air. Hamed hung 140.6 on Ahmad and never looked back, winning by 43.7 in the week's designated execution. Omar A. put 128.0 on Tarick in a 35.3-point mugging that should interest law enforcement. Karim beat Adel 93.9-78.7 and nobody will remember it by Thursday. Adil edged Mustafa by 6.6 in a game decided by pocket change and prayer. Zaid survived Omar H. by 1.8, and both benches deserve subpoenas over it.

Yousef dropped a league-best 224.8, which buys exactly one week of trash talk credit. And at the bottom, Adel posted 78.7. The bye weeks were visible from space and the lineup stayed put.

Adil lost 3 waiver claims this week, which takes a special commitment to being second.

In the season race: Yousef still leads the league in scoring, while Ahmad continues auditioning for the punishment.

That's the report. Complaints can be filed directly into the group chat where they belong.

Adel(RIP 💀)
(Be my Jaan Robinson)
78.7@93.9
Karim
(Abu Jabal)
Pregame · The Booth

Grab your popcorn. One of these rosters was built by a genius, the other by a group chat dare. Karim rolls in at 2-1 while Adel is dragging a 0-3 record behind them like a busted trailer hitch. The metrics say mismatch. The metrics are being polite. Be my Jaan Robinson has lost 3 straight, which by my math is 3 more consecutive losses than a competently managed franchise should allow. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

FINAL: Abu Jabal 93.9, Be my Jaan Robinson 78.7. Workmanlike win for Karim. Nothing pretty about it, but neither is this league. A combined 172.6 points. I've covered scoreless soccer friendlies with more offense. Both lineups should apologize to the sport. Adel's 78.7 was the lowest score in the league this week. The LOWEST. Out of twelve teams. I need everyone to sit with that. Karim climbs to 3-1, and for one week, the film room has nothing bad to say. Enjoy the silence. Adel is now 0-4, and the tape suggests that's generous.

Tarick
(Balls Deep)
92.7@128.0
Omar A.
(Ninjer)
Pregame · The Booth

Welcome back to the only league where the tape never lies and neither do I. On paper this is a coin flip: Ninjer at 1-2, Balls Deep at 1-2. On tape, it's two teams praying the other starts the wrong flex. My prediction? Pain. Beautifully quantifiable pain.

Postgame · The Booth

FINAL: Ninjer 128.0, Balls Deep 92.7. Workmanlike win for Omar. Nothing pretty about it, but neither is this league. Omar climbs to 2-2, and for one week, the film room has nothing bad to say. Enjoy the silence. Tarick drops to 1-3 and is officially in 'blame the projections' territory.

Omar H.
(Omar’s B*tches)
101.2@103.0
Zaid
(Campaign Papi)
Pregame · The Booth

Another week, another chance for these two to embarrass their draft boards. Campaign Papi (2-1) versus Omar’s B*tches (2-1). Vegas calls this a pick'em. I call it mutually assured mediocrity. Kickoff's coming. Set your lineups, say your prayers.

Postgame · The Booth

FINAL: Campaign Papi survives Omar’s B*tches, 103.0-101.2. A 1.8-point margin. That's not a win, that's a coin flip with better marketing. Zaid moves to 3-1. A real analyst would call that momentum. I'll call it a stay of execution. Omar falls to 2-2. The good news: it can't get worse. The bad news: I said that last week too.

Hamed(RIP 💀)
(fantasy sucks)
140.6@96.9
Ahmad
(Lucy's Finest)
Pregame · The Booth

You wanted analysis. I brought a scalpel. fantasy sucks (2-1) is the clear favorite over Lucy's Finest (0-3), and if you disagree, congratulations, you must be Ahmad. Ahmad has dropped 3 in a row, a stretch of football so bleak the league office considered a wellness check. Let's see whose projections were lies.

Postgame · The Booth

fantasy sucks hangs 140.6 on Lucy's Finest, who answered with 96.9. I've seen preseason walkthroughs with more competitive fire. Hamed moves to 3-1. A real analyst would call that momentum. I'll call it a stay of execution. Ahmad is now 0-4, and the tape suggests that's generous.

Yousef
(McCafre)
224.8@94.5
Issa
(Shamjesus)
Pregame · The Booth

I've broken down the matchups. One of them broke down right back. Issa (2-1) and Yousef (2-1) come in dead even on paper, which is a polite way of saying neither has earned my respect. Somebody tell the benches to stay warm. They usually outscore the starters around here.

Postgame · The Booth

McCafre 224.8, Shamjesus 94.5. In the film room we call that a 'teaching tape.' Issa, you were the lesson. A combined 319.3 points in this one. Absolute track meet. Defense is optional in fantasy and both of these teams treated scoring like a personal vendetta. Yousef's 224.8 was the top score in the league this week. Enjoy it. Peaks like this are usually followed by cliffs. Yousef improves to 3-1. Credit where due, and I do mean the bare minimum of credit. Issa falls to 2-2. The good news: it can't get worse. The bad news: I said that last week too.

Adil
(Dilmeisters)
100.2@93.6
Mustafa
(Team Mohammad)
Pregame · The Booth

Welcome back to the only league where the tape never lies and neither do I. Mustafa (2-1) and Adil (2-1) come in dead even on paper, which is a polite way of saying neither has earned my respect. Let's see whose projections were lies.

Postgame · The Booth

Dilmeisters handles business, 100.2-93.6. Mustafa will tell you it was closer than the score. The score disagrees, and the score was there. 193.8 total points between them. The real loser here was every single person who watched. Adil moves to 3-1. A real analyst would call that momentum. I'll call it a stay of execution. Mustafa falls to 2-2. The good news: it can't get worse. The bad news: I said that last week too.
